A RECENT plea for donations from Drumchapel Foodbank has resulted in big-hearted opticians and audiologists showing their support.
Employees from 11 Specsavers stores across the west of Scotland, including Clydebank, have united to answer the foodbank’s appeal to help families in need in Drumchapel.
The workers will either be collecting vital food parcels or cash donations and so far items provided include cereal, tinned fruit, spaghetti, instant noodles, toilet roll, nappies, and more.

Following the rollout of Universal Credit hitting residents hard, along with those seeking asylum and people facing crushing debts, the foodbank made an urgent plea for food and money.
The foodbank’s Ryan McGeady said the money pot is “dangerously low”.
Ryan Forbes, audiology director at Specsavers promoting the collection in the Trongate store, said: “I plan to be requesting all tinned foods, male and female toiletries, and a big one for me – dog and cat food.
“I will be personally buying loads of food for all the cats and dogs to donate as sometimes I feel they get forgotten.”
