Drumchapel Foodbank have issued an urgent appeal for food and money to help meet demand this week.

The organisation said the rollout of Universal Credit was hitting residents hard, along with those seeking asylum and people facing crushing debts.

Ryan McGeady, from the foodbank, said they are currently not getting any funding so their money pot is "dangerously low" and they hope the public can help with food items and/or financial support.

The items needed are:

  • Cereal
  • Tinned Spaghetti/Hoops
  • Tinned Meat
  • Tinned Tuna
  • Tinned/Jarred Hot Dogs
  • Tinned Meatballs
  • Tinned Garden/Processed Peas
  • Tinned Carrots
  • Tinned Sweetcorn
  • Tinned Potatoes
  • Jarred Sauces
  • Instant Noodles
  • Meals in a Can (ie. Stew, Chicken & White Sauce, Curry etc)
  • Tinned Custard
  • Tinned Rice Pudding
  • Tinned Fruit
  • Biscuits
  • Sugar
  • Jam
  • Stock Cubes (Veg/Chicken)
  • Frey Bentos Pies
  • Toilet Roll
  • Nappies (Size 6,6+,7,7+)

Food items and cash can be donated at Unit 9, Ladyloan Place, Drumchapel, G15 8LB.
