The home side got off to a promising start when Mark Bennett scored the first try of the afternoon after Bath had taken an early 3-0 lead.

The visitors then crept back in front when they capitalised on a Glasgow mistake.

From then on though, the Warriors were mesmeric, scoring five tries through Maitland, Seymour, Matawalu and a Bennett brace, securing a bonus point.

The win will give the squad plenty of confidence as they go into next weekend’s match against Montpellier away from home.

Sean Maitland made his first start of the season at Scotstoun while Duncan Weir and Henry Pyrgos made up the half-back pairing to complete an all Scottish backline.

Pyrgos was also named as captain and put in a man of the match performance.

Despite going behind to an early penalty, the Warriors were good at maintaining possession and after 11 minutes, the hosts touched down.

Following a prolonged period of pressure, Mark Bennett picked up the ball and made a scything run, sprinting in under the posts before Duncan Weir added the extras.

Moments later though a spanner was put in the works when Stuart Hogg dropped a high ball allowing Jonathan Joseph to kick forward and touch down.

The conversion put Bath in the lead but Duncan Weir slotted a penalty to draw his side level, 10-10.

The Glasgow fly-half was on fire from the kicking tee and put Glasgow in front after 22 minutes through a penalty.

Maitland would then touch down in the corner after build up play involving Seymour, Bennett and Hogg. Weir then missed the conversion and the Warriors led 18-10.

Just before half-time Glasgow increased their lead when the ball was fed wide to Tommy Seymour who dived over the line. The referee looked for confirmation from the TMO and the score was given before Weir stroked the conversion wide.

At half-time, the Warriors led 23-10 and after his first half exertions, Tommy Seymour was replaced by DTH van der Merwe.

The Canadian flyer was immediately in action and it was nearly try time after 42 minutes when he tried to touch the ball down but saw the ball trundle out of his grasp before being grounded by Fusaro.

With the game not going their way, Bath made a few changes with their front row being replaced, this gave Bath the required boost they needed and they began to look very dangerous.

To combat this, Townsend made some changes of his own with Niko Matawalu replacing Pyrgos which worked wonders.

After 66 minutes, the flying Fijian defied all odds to score a great try.

After kicking ahead, Maitland, Bennett and Matawalu were in pursuit but Pyrgos gathered the ball and threw a sublime dummy before diving over and celebrating in the corner. The try secured the bonus point and Weir converted.

With the Warrior Nation in delirium, more was to come with DTH kicking ahead and seeing it be collected by Mark Bennett who darted onto the ball and dived over the line to score the fifth try of the afternoon before Weir converted, making the score
