Clydebank And District Bowling Association The second matches in the CDBA League Cup were played on Friday, August 7, the games being played in good weather for a change. The results from Section A were as follows: Scotstounhill 7 Singer 7, Dalmuir 9 Yarrow 5, Albion no game. These results make Dalmuir early leaders on 21 points after two matches with Yarrow 4 points behind in second position. Singer and Albion have only played one match. The Section B results were as follows: Radnor Park 9 Clydebank 5, Old Kilpatrick 13 Yoker 1, Victoria Park no game. Old Kilpatrick now lead Section B on 19 points with Clydebank on 13 points. Radnor Park are well placed on 9 points after only one match. The League Cup fixtures for Friday, August 14 are as follows: Section A – Scotstounhill v Albion, Yarrow v Singer, Dalmuir no game; Section B – Clydebank v Victoria Park, Radnor Park v Old Kilpatrick, Yoker no game.

The CDBA Seniors David Syme League restarted on with the week 13 matches on Monday, August 3. Clydebank extended their lead at the top of the league after a comfortable home victory against Victoria Park. Radnor Park surged into second position after defeating second top Dalmuir at the First Terrace green. Yoker stay in fourth position after beating Yarrow away. The other two matches were drawn. The results from week 13 were as follows: Albion 2 Scotstounhill 2, Clydebank 4 Victoria Park 0, Radnor Park 4 Dalmuir 0, Singer 2 Old Kilpatrick 2, Yarrow 0 Yoker 4. The league positions are as follows: 1. Clydebank 41 points, 2. Radnor Park 34 points, 3. Dalmuir 33 points, 4. Yoker 32 points, 5. Albion 27 points, 6. Singer 24 points, 7= Scotstounhill/Yarrow 20 points, 9. Old Kilpatrick 15 points, 10. Victoria Park 14 points. The following week 14 fixtures were due to be played on Monday, August 10: Albion v Yarrow, Scotstounhill v Clydebank, Victoria Park v Dalmuir, Old Kilpatrick v Radnor Park, Yoker v Singer. The Week 15 fixtures due to be played on Monday, August 17 are as follows: Dalmuir v Albion, Clydebank v Old Kilpatrick, Scotstounhill v Victoria Park, Radnor Park v Yoker, Yarrow v Singer.

The CDBA Senior Top Three singles competition was due to commence on Tuesday, August 4 with the preliminary round matches. Unfortunately, the normal Scottish summer weather put paid to that plan as the matches had to be cancelled due to flooded greens. The Preliminary Round games were rescheduled for Tuesday 11th August and the ties are as follows: Victoria Park v Dalmuir (at Yoker) and Old Kilpatrick v Scotstounhill (at Dalmuir). The draw for Round One matches is as follows: Victoria Park or Dalmuir v Old Kilpatrick or Scotstounhill (at Singer), Yoker v Radnor Park (at Scotstounhill), Albion v Clydebank (at Yarrow) and Yarrow v Singer (at Radnor Park). The Round One matches will now take place on Tuesday 18th August starting at 1.00pm.

The CDBA Gents Champion of Champions competitions were due to start on Monday, August 10 with Preliminary Round matches in each competition. The CDBA Senior Fours Champion of Champions will commence on Thursday, August 13. The Preliminary matches are as Follows: Dalmuir v Radnor Park (at Old Kilpatrick), Albion v Old Kilpatrick (at Singer). These ties are scheduled to start at 1pm.

District Club News The annual Dalmuir Invitation Triples was held at the Stevenson Street green on Saturday, August 8. The competition was sponsored by Wallaces TCB. Congratutions to Ian MacLeod, George Griffin and Grant Sayer of Dalmuir who beat the Whitecrook triple of Chris Miller, Kenny Murphy and Eddie McGuire in the final. The other semi-finalists were Denis Durning, Jim Rogers and John Bell (Dalmuir) and Steven Dow, Colin Dow and Josh Jolly (Lenzie). Radnor Park hosted the annual Alex Wilson Pairs competition on Saturday. The happy winners were Willie McLaughlan and Stuart McVicar who defeated Iain McLeod and Raymond Hay in a close final. The beaten semi-finalists were Brian Jennings & Duncan McKenzie and Peter Greenlees & Allan Baillie. Scotstounhill held their Mixed Pairs on Saturday, August 8. Congratulations to this year’s winners Rosemary and Jim Craig who narrowly beat Liz Strathdee and Kenny Mathews in the final. It was also a busy weekend for the Clydebank B.C. bowlers who hosted their Open Fours competition on Saturday and played a Friendly game at Polmont B.C., whilst Old Kilpatrick hosted a Ladies Invitation Tournament.

This weekend sees a lot of the District Clubs commence their Internal Finals competitions.

Finals will be held at Clydebank, Old Kilpatrick, Scotstounhill, Singer, Victoria Park and Yarrow. Radnor Park have a home friendly against Kilmaurs B.C.
