Clydebank and District Bowling Association The CDBA Top 10 competition commenced on Friday, July 10. The results from the preliminary round matches were as follows: Scotstounhill 3 Dalmuir 1 (at Old Kilpatrick) and Clydebank 3 Albion 1 (at Singer).

The Round One ties are due to be played on Friday 17th July and the line-up is as follows: Scotstounhill v Clydebank at Yoker, Victoria Park v Singer at Dalmuir, Yarrow v Radnor Park at Victoria Park, Yoker v Old Kilpatrick at Radnor Park.

The semi-finals of the CDBA Top 5 Singles competition were held on Sunday, July 12. The scores were as follows: Radnor Park 4 Dalmuir 1 (at Singer) and Clydebank 3 Singer 2 (at Old Kilpatrick).

The Final between Radnor Park and Clydebank will be played at Albion on Sunday, July 19 and a good crowd is anticipated.

The week 12 games in the CDBA David Syme League were played on Monday, July 6. Leaders Clydebank suffered a setback after losing only their second match of the season, going down 3-1 at Yoker.

The Dalmuir Seniors, many of whom participated in the League winning side, had a comfortable home win against Yarrow to consolidate second place.

Radnor Park got back on track by beating Albion at the First Terrace green.

In the other matches, Old Kilpatrick had a rare win at Scotstounhill and unfortunately, the Victoria Park v Singer result has still to be reported to the District Secretary.

The full results from the David Syme League Week 12 were: Radnor Park 4 Albion 0, Dalmuir 4 Yarrow 0, Scotstounhill 1 Old Kilpatrick 3, Yoker 3 Clydebank 1, Victoria Park v Singer (tba).

The league placings after 12 matches are as follows: 1. Clydebank 37 points, 2. Dalmuir 33 points, 3. Radnor Park 30 points, 4. Yoker 28 points, 5. Albion 25 points, 6. Singer 20 points, 7. Yarrow 20 points, 8. Scotstounhill 18 points, 9. Old Kilpatrick 13 points. 10. Victoria Park 12 points.

The David Syme League has now reached the two thirds stage and will take a break for several weeks. The week 13 fixtures will be played on Monday, August 3.

The CDBA Senior Top 10 was due to start on Monday, July 13. The preliminary round fixtures were as follows: Albion v Radnor Park at Yoker B.C. and Dalmuir v Singer at Scotstounhill B.C.

The round one ties will be played on Monday, August 20 and are as follows: Albion or Radnor Park v Dalmuir or Singer (at Old Kilpatrick), Yoker v Yarrow (at Clydebank), Clydebank v Scotstounhill (at Victoria Park), Victoria Park v Old Kilpatrick (at Singer).

The Adams Love competition for the District’s Seniors was held at Yarrow B.C. on Thursday, July 9.

Congratulations to Clydebank B.C. (skip Jim McGinley) on winning the 2015 Trophy.

The runners-up this year were Yarrow, skipped by Willie Drysdale. The other semi-finalists were Dalmuir B.C. (skip Peter Mackie) and Old Kilpatrick (skip Tom Allerdice). A CDBA Senior’s select team will take on their Dumbarton counterparts in their annual “friendly” game at Albion B.C. on Thursday, July 23.

District Club News District Fixtures for this Saturday 18th July are as follows: Clydebank – Mixed Triples, Radnor Park – Invitation Rinks, Scotstounhill – Ladies Invitation Triples, Singer – Five End Fred Pairs, Victoria Park – E.T. Trophy, Yarrow – Away Fv Inchinnan.

Dumbartonshire Bowling Association The DBA Top 10 competition started recently but there seems to be problem getting results due to holiday commitments of several DBA representatives at the same time.

The known results from first round ties held on or before Thursday 2nd July were as follows: Clydebank 6 Condorrat 2, Dalmuir 6 Radnor Park 2, Singer 5 Westermains 3. Dalmuir and Singer fought out a second round tie at the Stevenson Street Clubhouse on Thursday, July 9.

Singer won the singles match but Dalmuir brought the score level after winning the Fours.

It therefore came down to the Pairs and Triples ties both of which were very close.

In the end, Singer won both the Pairs and Triples by one shot, giving them a 6-2 victory overall.

Hopefully more results will be available for next week’s column.

Glasgow Bowling Association The Glasgow Bowling Association Championship Finals were held at Yarrow B.C. on Saturday, July 4. Congratulations to the Yarrow team of Matt Naismith, George Gardener and Tony Cochrane who defeated Whitevale B.C. by 16-9 to win the Glasgow Triples Title.

Tony is having a good year so far as he has also qualified for Northfield in the Gents Pairs with Michael Shields.

Scottish Counties and Cities Championships The Second Stage matches in the Andrew Hamilton Trophy were played recently. The results from the quarter final ties were as follows: Lanarkshire South 117 Highlands 105, Renfrewshire West 114 Edinburgh & Lothian 112, Wigtownshire 124 Northern Counties 106, West Lothian 135 Glasgow West 97. The semi-final matches were played on Saturday, July 11 and the results were: Lanarkshire South 119 Renfrewshire West 100, Wigtownshire 128 West Lothian 109. This means that the two teams who qualified from the South Section (where DBA East play) will contest the Final, which will be held at Ayr Seafield B.C. on Saturday, July 18.
