CLYDEBANK Gaelic Football Club the Glasgow Gaels celebrated a famous win last Sunday when their Ladies side clinched the Scottish Ladies Championship in Edinburgh.
The Gaels side got their hands on the trophy after a 2-8 to 1-5 win against close rivals Dunedin Connollys at Granton Park Paul Gallagher, Gaels Ladies manager, stated after the victory: “I think the friendship and spirit of the team brought them home in the end.” Everyone at the club is delighted with the ladies success which is richly deserved after four months of hard training and great support of club events including participation in the Clydebank 10k recently.
The ladies now look forward to playing in the British Championship further south later in the year, and it might not be the last silverware for the club this year with the under-12 and mens’ senior and junior teams whose campaigns run between August and October this year.
Jack Westwater and Luke Smith represented their country in Gaelic Football last weekend, as part of the Scotland under-14 Féile team who were in action over June 26-28.
The team played very well throughout and everyone involved got a real taste of competitive GAA action and were looked after impeccably by their host club in Co. Wexford, For more information on the kids team, ladies team, mens teams or any aspect of the club, or to get involved, contact info@glaschugaels.com.
