CLYDEBANK & DISTRICT BOWLING ASSOCIATION Congratulations to Old Kilpatrick BC on winning the CDBA League Cup.

The final of the competition was held at Yarrow BC on Sunday, August 31 and the match finished Old Kilpatrick 10 Clydebank 4.

The results of the individual games were as follows (Old Kilpatrick skips first): Brian Muckle 9 Grant Russell 20, Jim Nicholson 21 Joe Kerrigan 7, Iain McLean 13 Joe Currie 15, Drew Hughes 17 Brian Purdie 16, Tony Fox 16 Scott Paton 11 and Derek Thomson 16 Stuart Graham 12.

The CDBA League Cup Trophy was presented to Old Kilpatrick President Gordon Renfrew.

The week five matches were played on Friday, August 29.

In Section A Clydebank had already qualified but the results were: Radnor Park 14 Albion 0 and Singer 10 Scotstounhill 4. In Section B Dalmuir made a valiant effort to match Old Kilpatrick’s points total of 40 by beating Yoker 14-0, however, Old Kilpatrick still qualified by virtue of a higher points difference.

The week 16 matches in the CDBA David Syme Senior League were played on Monday, August 25.

The Dalmuir Seniors closed the gap at the top of the league to just one point after a convincing away win at Victoria Park.

Clydebank slipped up with a draw against second bottom Scotstounhill. However, Yarrow remain well in contention after a good away win at Albion.

The results from week 16 in the David Syme League were as follows: Yoker 4 Singer 0, Old Kilpatrick 0 Radnor Park 4, Scotstounhill 2 Clydebank 2, Albion 1 Yarrow 3 and Victoria Park 0 Dalmuir 4.

The full league table is now as follows: 1. Clydebank 41 points, 2. Dalmuir 40 points, 3. Yarrow 38 points, 4= Albion/Radnor Park 35 points, 6. Old Kilpatrick 32 points, 7. Singer 30 points, 8. Yoker 24 points, 9= Scotstounhill/Victoria Park 23 points.

The week 17 fixtures, which were due to be played on Monday, September 1, were as follows: Yarrow v Singer, Radnor Park v Yoker, Scotstounhill v Victoria Park, Clydebank v Old Kilpatrick and Dalmuir v Albion.

It looks as though the title will be decided in the final week when the top two teams meet.

The week 18 fixtures, due to be played on Monday, September 8, are as follows: Dalmuir v Clydebank, Albion v Yoker, Old Kilpatrick v Victoria Park, Radnor Park v Yarrow and Singer v Scotstounhill.

The semi finals of the CDBA Champion of Champions knockout competitions were played on Monday, August 25.

The results were as followsm, Junior Singles: Ross Ward (Singer) beat Clydebank and David MacMillan (Dalmuir) beat Victoria Park, Singles: Charlie Steele (Scotstounhill) beat Stuart McDade (Yoker) and Grant Russell (Clydebank) beat Old Kilpatrick, Pairs: Dalmuir beat Radnor Park and Yarrow beat Clydebank, Triples: Clydebank beat Yarrow and Dalmuir beat Yoker, Fours: Radnor Park beat Albion and Yoker beat Old Kilpatrick.

The semi-finals of the CDBA Senior Fours Champion of Champions competition were played on Thursday, August 28.

The results were as follows: Scotstounhill beat and Clydebank beat Singer.

The CDBA Champion of Champions finals will be played at Yarrow BC on Saturday, September 6 and a detailed round up of the matches will appear in next week’s column.

The annual CDBA Presentation of Prizes will be held at Yarrow BC on Friday, September 19.

DISTRICT CLUB NEWS Once again many of the CDBA Clubs had internal finals on at the weekend and the players were rewarded with warm and sunny conditions.
