Despite leading at the break through a wonder-strike by Greg Maitland, Yoker conceded four in the second half. The Largs goals came courtesy of strikers James Marks and Graham Muir who both netted a double in a tremendous second half display.

The first chance of the match fell the way of the home side. Pacey winger Greg Maitland beat one man and slid the ball through to striker David Crerand who stabbed a low shot towards goal, Largs keeper Grant Weir was able to get down quickly and tip the ball wide for a corner.

Largs then almost took the lead 30 minutes into the match. Thistle’s pressing paid off as they won the ball back deep in Yoker’s half, a high pass was then played through to striker James Marks who attempted to lob keeper Craig Winslow, his effort just crept over the bar however and the score remained level.

Five minutes later Yoker took the lead. Mark McManus played a pass inside to Maitland who turned his marker and rifled the ball into the top corner from twenty-five yards out. The goal was against the run of play but it was a fantastic strike which was applauded by both sets of fans.

The first half then fizzled out and Yoker went into the break leading.

Largs started the second half the stronger. They had a few chances in the opening 10 minutes of the half, the most notable of these was when the ball fell to full back Iain Fisher who fired his shot well over the bar from inside the box.

Five minutes later the scores were level. After some nice work by Alan Frizzell on the left wing, he crossed into the box, Graham Muir was unmarked and finished with a glancing header.

A few moments later Yoker almost restored their lead, Darren Jones launched a long throw into the front post which was met by Stevie Reilly but the defender saw his effort acrobatically saved by Weir in goals and the danger was cleared.

Twenty minutes from time Largs went in front. After a sustained period of pressure, Fisher provided a cross which was met by Marks in the six-yard box, Winslow managed to save the initial shot but Marks was on hand to prod the rebound home.

Marks was on the score-sheet again 10 minutes from time, after a quick free-kick by Fisher and Sean Lawrence on the right — a cross was played in by Lawrence and was met by Marks — who headed the ball into the far corner past a scrambling Winslow.

Largs then rubbed salt into Yoker wounds and scored a fourth. Following a Yoker corner, a quick pass was played forward and Marks’ pace allowed him to break away. He went through on goal but glanced across and saw Muir running into the box, the striker unselfishly squared the ball and Muir finished with ease.

Yoker have now lost three in a row. and will travel to Fife to take on Dundonald Bluebell in the Scottish Cup on Saturday.
