Bankies crashed out of the West of Scotland Cup on Saturday, losing 3-2 to Craigmark Burntonians, a team currently without a win in the Ayrshire District League.

Clydebank also await their first league win of the season but Gold thinks the margins Bankie have lost games by show that the panic buttons should not be pressed.

He said: “I don’t think the fans should be getting on our backs too much, we are losing games by the odd goal no one has comprehensively beaten us, we are just at a stage where we need a bit of luck to go for us.

“When I first came we lost five and drew one in our first six games and we finished fourth that year so there is a very long way to go.

“We’ve lost some very important players in the summer and sometimes it just takes a bit of time for the boys that have come in to gel with the team.” Gold made a big contribution in Bankies last league game, scoring a last minute equaliser against Arthurlie.

It was a rare moment of joy in Clydebank’s season so far but Gold is in no doubt that the manager and the team are more than capable of turning things round.

He said: ”The boys are fantastic everyone is trying to stay positive, of course we’re disappointed and desperate to put it right and we can make a start to that against Lossiemouth on Saturday.

“Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I have every faith in the manager going forward. We showed some great form in pre-season against some good sides and we can find that form again.”
