With Clydebank’s sights firmly set on third place in the league, the Bankies looked on course following a five match unbeaten run until they fell to a 1-0 defeat to Hurlford at the weekend.

However, the recent win over Auchinleck Talbot showed that Budgie McGhie side have what it takes to compete at the very top end of the table and battle against the likes of this weekend’s opponents for the top spots.

And Berry believes the team will look to their early elimination from the Junior Cup as motivation as they head to Meadow Park on Saturday, the 26-year-old midfielder said: “Revenge will definitely be on the cards. The cup game was a disappointing result at the time and the boys knew that they could have played a lot better that day.

“We felt we were good enough to beat Meadow and progress in the cup but it wasn’t to be.

“The boys all thought they could go on a decent run so we can use that on Saturday and we are all really up for the game — to get revenge would be brilliant.” Despite falling to Meadow in the Scottish Cup, the Bankies have enjoyed success in Central League Cup as well as lifting the Sectional League Cup in September, with a 2-0 win over Pollok.

Berry helped Clydebank on their way to glory and admits the dressing room is focused on doubling the season’s trophy haul by hopefully adding the Central League Cup to the trophy cabinet after victories over East Kilbride Thistle and Shotts Bon Accord booked their place in the third round.

Looking ahead in the competition, Berry continued: “All the boys are aiming for the double. It is now the priority for the rest of the season.

“We enjoyed the previous run to the final and hopefully we can go all the way in this competition too. We would probably sacrifice second or third place in order to get to another final.

“It would be fantastic for the club all round. We usually get an excellent support in the big games, the players would enjoy it and if we won a cup the club would benefit financially.”
