Super performance We may have went into Saturday’s game against the Super Premier champions as underdogs once again but I can honestly say now that in the build up to the game I had a genuine feeling that we would take all three points off Talbot.

I obviously just didn’t think that we would do it by such a convincing score line.

How big a win was this? You could say that it was just another three league points but alternatively when you take into consideration that it was the first time we’ve beaten Talbot in the league, it was the Ayrshire side’s first defeat in 38 league games and the first time in 39 games that they’ve failed to score, you maybe realise that it was a pretty satisfying day for everyone at Clydebank FC.

As you would expect against such a strong outfit, it wasn’t a totally one sided game, in fact our keeper Robert Hamilton played a big part in this win by turning in a splendid performance, producing critical saves at important times in the game, for the second game in succession.

I was delighted for all the players as they had played so well against Talbot in both our previous meetings this season but came away with nothing to show from those games so I think they fully deserved this victory.

It is always pleasing to see the affect that a result like this has on not just the players, but everyone at the club. I know football is “only a game” but for many of us involved in it, you always tend to enjoy the rest of your weekend a whole lot more after a performance like this.

Another Ayrshire test This Saturday we face another difficult game in the league when we travel down to Ayrshire to face Hurlford.

The Blair Park outfit made significant investments to their squad in the close season and are subsequently enjoying a good season to date.

They have made it through to the semi-final stages of the Scottish Cup and are still in the West of Scotland and Ayrshire cups. The fact they are doing so well in the cups has had an impact on their league campaign as they now still have a lot of fixtures to fulfil in the next couple of months and that could ultimately have an affect on their final league position.

I took in one of their away games earlier in the season when they convincingly beat Irvine Meadow, and when you consider how well the Meadow have been doing this season, that gives you an idea how good this Hurlford outfit can be.

As tough as the opposition might be, our boys will be going into this game full of confidence and therefore this game could turn out to be a cracker.
