Zack Birnie’s header, alongside a double from Kevin McNaught were the difference as Bankies left Lenzie with their unbeaten league record intact.

With a little over 60 seconds played, a long ball from Campsie goalkeeper Stuart McGarry caught out the Bankies back four and Oliver Meggitt was on hand to prod the ball past Paul McKenna in the Clydebank goal to give Campsie the lead.

Two minutes before the half-time whistle, Jamie Grimes’ long free kick into the box fell perfectly for McNaught who guided his header past McGarry to equalise.

Six minutes after the restart, Clydebank took the lead from the penalty spot. After Sean Stewart was upended by a clumsy Campsie Challenge, McNaught assumed responsibility, sending McGarry the wrong way to grab his second of the afternoon.

Four minutes later, Campsie equalised through Logan McIntyre. After a corner wasn’t cleared, the big centre back fired a shot low across Paul McKenna that nestled in the bottom corner to level the score.

Mid-way through the first half, Clydebank pushed Stewart up front alongside McNaught in a change that saw Cammy Morgan replaced by Zack Birnie — the switch had an immediate impact. Man of the match Fraser Reid’s free kick was met by the head of Birnie who glanced the ball into the bottom corner to give Clydebank the lead.

The most controversial moment in the match came in the dying seconds, when Josh Sorbie pulled down the Campsie forward, the referee pointed to the penalty spot before changing his mind and awarding the free kick, insisting the contact came outside of the area.

With Campsie left incensed. Ryan Blair did well to whip the ball up and over the four man wall, McKenna reacted well to parry the ball over the bar as Bankies left Lenzie with all three points.
