Our community is strong and leads by example.

We have now had a lovely summer with fantastic weather and locally we played an important part of the European Championships, which have been an outstanding success. These games promoted our city to a potential audience of one billion, and without our community it wouldn’t have been possible. With our new BMX track to the swimming events in Scotstoun we definitely showcased our people-make-Glasgow approach.

Now the children and teachers are back at school and I am pleased to support the expansion of free school meals to every P4 pupil in our city. This is great for all our families.

I am also pleased to see the new playground at Corpus Christi Primary and they will also soon get a new multi-use games area (muga) park - a promise I made to the parents’ council over a year ago to get some investment in the sports pitch.

Our Clyde Campus is moving forward with the works to complete the pitch and playground well underway and the installation of new bollards I requested to make a safe zone for pupils walking to school.

Over the summer I have been working with Heart of Scotstoun and Community Safety and I am pleased to see their community garden is moving forward and hopefully we will have some more exciting news on that soon.

Our community also is setting trends for the entire city. The first Clyde Campus summer club was an amazing success and this was a great partnership between the schools and DRC Youth Project.

And the volunteers serving community meals by Heart of Scotstoun and Yoker Diners in the local church are remarkable and help to bring everyone closer together.

I am proud of the hard partnership work to address a range of issues well done.
