A "historic" sea vessel in Scotland has been named one of the best hotels in the world at the Tripadvisor Travellers' Choice Awards.
The luxury floating hotel docked in the Port of Leith in Edinburgh is beloved by visitors, being ranked as one of the highest-rated places to stay in the UK.
Fingal, which has five stars, was named in the Small and Boutique hotels category, taking the first and second spots in the UK and Europe lists.
Discussing the awards, Tripadvisor said: "The Travellers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best title celebrates the highest level of excellence in travel.
"It’s awarded to those who receive a high volume of above-and-beyond reviews and opinions from the Tripadvisor community over a 12-month period. Out of our 8 million listings, fewer than 1% achieve this milestone."

On its Tripadvisor page, the Scottish hotel, which was named the 11th best in the world, says: "Awarded AA Hotel of the Year Scotland, Fingal opened in January 2019 in the historic Port of Leith as a unique addition to Edinburgh’s hotel scene following a £5 million development.
"This former Northern Lighthouse Board ship, begins an exciting new chapter offering beautiful cabins, dining and entertaining space.
"Developed by The Royal Yacht Britannia, Fingal’s 22 luxury cabins are each named after Stevenson lighthouses, inspired by her rich maritime heritage.

"Sleek corridors lined with lighthouse images lead to the choice of cabins, from a luxury cabin with access to the deck, a duplex cabin with comfortable living space or the stunning Skerryvore Suite with extensive outdoor space to relax and entertain.
Discussing the design onboard, the hotel added: "Carefully considered design offers the highest specifications of craftsmanship and finish, with nautical touches and polished woods.
"Sumptuous Scottish leathers and the finest linens are in colour palates inspired by Fingal’s journey from land and sea."
