Workers have been told to down tools and attend a meeting with officials this morning at 11am, with workers from the Govan and Rosyth yards also attending.
Announcements had been expected tomorrow (Thursday) but has been brought forward following widespread calls for BAE to clarify the situation.
In addition to Scotstoun and Govan yards, BAE is also expected to make an announcement on the future of its Portsmouth yard in England.
It has been reported that Portsmouth will become a repair and maintenance yard, with no new ships being built there in future.
