KIRSTY Rainey, a former P7 pupil at Carleith Primary in Duntocher, was presented with the Emma’s Strength Award at the school’s leavers assembly in June.

Kirsty was nominated for the award due to the strength and resilience she had shown in dealing with challenging times.

She had also made an invaluable contribution to the Seasons for Growth Group — a programme which focuses on dealing with loss and change. Teaching staff at the school voted for Kirsty to receive the award to also acknowledge her commitment to keeping the school’s shared values and to caring for younger pupils.

The school award was established in memory of a former pupil, Emma Smith who sadly passed away in her final year at Carleith Primary.

Representatives from Emma’s charity, including her mum Maxine Smith, joined the school community for the presentation.
