A HUGELY talented young Clydebank man has been nominated for three national comic book awards.

Comic writer Gary Chudleigh, who grew up in Hardgate and attended Clydebank High, is among the a creative elite in line for honours at the Scottish Independent Comic Book Alliance (SICBA) Awards 2015.

Gary signed up with Scotland’s leading publisher BHP Comics last year and his acclaimed comic, Plagued: The Miranda Chronicles, has received rave reviews since.

The SICBA awards was established five years ago to recognise the growing wealth of output from comic creators in Scotland.

Gary is nominated for best newcomer, best writer and best comic along with his collaborating artist, Tanya Roberts who is nominated for best artist and best cover.

Gary said: “I’m beyond thrilled to be nominated for the SICBA awards. Scotland has a rich comic book culture and is host to some of the best writers, artists, letters and colourists in the world. It is an honour to just be listed amongst the other nominees, who are all brilliant talents in their own right.” Gary, who now lives in Peterson Park, has been writing comics for the past six years and achieved his dream of becoming a published writer in 2014 when he signed up with BHP Comics.

The comic, Plagued: The Miranda Chronicles, sells for £3 and is an all ages Sci-Fi adventure comic set in a post-apocalyptic Scotland.

Clydebank also makes a cameo appearance as a futuristic version called ‘Titan Town’.

The winners will be announced after Glasgow Comic Con on July 4 at the Centre of Contemporary Arts in Glasgow.
