CLYDEBANK’S eco-friendly shopping centre has earned a top industry award for its environmental efforts.

Clyde Shopping Centre scooped the waste management gong at the 2015 SCEPTRE Awards in London last week.

Shopping Centre boss Andrew Forrester and his team were presented with a commemorative trophy by Carl Foreman, Cushman & Wakefield’s head of UK retail property and asset management.

Head judge Graham Parker, editor of Shopping Centre magazine, said: “Annual waste costs have been reduced by 56 per cent and an amazing 95 per cent of Clyde’s waste is now recycled. New recycling processes including waste segregation, compacting and baling as well as appointing a ‘waste champion’ have helped achieve this.” The SCEPTRE Awards are among the highlights of the shopping industry calendar and are designed to recognise and reward excellence in the retail sector.
