The 19-year-old is thought to be in a stable condition following the incident, which took place at around 1.30pm on Friday.

He was walking along Dumbarton Road, near Dyke Road, when he was stabbed by two men who had been in a black Vauxhall Corsa that pulled up beside him.

The car then made off down Dyke Road and the injured man was taken by ambulance to the Western Infirmary in Glasgow.

Detective Constable Scott Brockie, of Drumchapel CID, said: “We know that this was a targeted attack, but for it to happen in the middle of the afternoon, near to a busy main road and houses where lots of people are about, beggars belief.

“Also, Dumbarton Road is a very busy road with lots of vehicles, pedestrians — basically lots of people would have been about. I am sure that someone saw this attack happen and will have information, possibly in their mind insignificant, but which may be of great importance to us.” Anyone with information is urged to contact Drumchapel Police Office via the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where details can be given in confidence.
