The Drumchapel and West Winterfest is taking place on Guy Fawkes Night with a host of acts to keep everyone entertained.

Britain’s Got Talent winner Jai McDowall and band The Collective are among the guest artists due to perform.

The traditional funfair and stalls will again be on-site, and Titan the Robot (a walking, talking, six-foot android) is set to return.

Drumchapel Councillor Paul Carey said: “Winterfest is now well established as a major date in the Drumchapel social diary and is one of the most eagerly awaited events in Glasgow.

“Winterfest has been a real success in not only being a fun night, but has also encouraged local young people to attend a safe and organised fireworks event rather than create their own, potentially dangerous, bonfires.

“The event now draws people from all over the city not just Drumchapel. The Winterfest has proven a great tool in making sure people are taking this message to heart as the number of unsupervised bonfires in the area has reduced significantly since this event started. That alone makes it worthwhile.” Since the fuse was first lit on the event in 2006, the number of rogue bonfires in the area has reduced by 86 per cent.

Revellers are reminded to dress up warm and should not bring sparklers, alcohol or pets into Drumchapel Park during the event.
