While in the vehicle they attempted to engage the 19-year-old as she travelled to work at about 8.15am last Wednesday.

Due to their behaviour the woman became “very distressed” and headed home where she called the police.

Three males were inside the blue Ford vehicle on Dumbarton Road near Burns Street.

They did not attempt to pursue her as she left.

Police are looking to speak to nearby workmen who witnessed the scene and came to the aid of the female.

Area Commander Mark Lundie said: “The woman was heading to work when she was approached by the three men in the car. They made an attempt to speak to her, however, due to their behaviour, the woman became concerned and walked off. The men did not attempt to get her in to the car or pursue her after she left.

“Although the lady was unharmed, she is very distressed by what happened.

“My officers have been carrying out extensive enquiries in the area including viewing all CCTV we have available.

“Dumbarton Road is pretty busy at this time of the morning and I would appeal to anyone who was in the area and who has information that will help the enquiry to contact police.

“We are particularly keen to speak to workmen who were nearby and who on seeing what happened came over to see if she was okay. Their information could prove helpful to our enquiry and would ask that they contact police as soon as possible.” Anyone with information is asked to contact Dumbarton Police office on 101 or in confidence to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
