Gordon Rundell admitted acting in a threatening and abusive manner in late May this year, shouting, swearing and adopting an aggressive stance.

The 33-year-old also admitted resisting arrest, struggling violently with officers and lashing out with his legs as they tried to restrain him.

Dumbarton Sheriff Court heard last Tuesday how cops were called after Mundell, of Ellinger Court, was found asleep in a lift at Overtoun Court in the town.

The concierge of the building tried to rouse the sleeping accused, but to no avail, calling police to see if they could help.

Officers found Rundell to be heavily under the influence of drink, but managed to rouse him.

It was then he told them he had left his keys in a flat within Overtoun Court and could not get home.

Police tried to help him retrieve his keys from the flat but with no answer from the owner, Rundell became aggressive and started to shout and swear.

He was told to stop but failed to do so, leading to officers trying to restrain him. As they tried to put on the handcuffs, Rundell strained his arms and held them against his body, preventing officers from applying them.

But grouchy Rundell was not finished with his early morning rant and kicked out at officers after they placed him in the prone position on the ground.

The Dalmuir man had pled guilty by letter. Court heard his last conviction was in 2006 and that he had kept out of trouble since then.

Sheriff Colin McKay gave Rundell something to be properly grumpy about, fining him £300.
