At about 9.40am on Friday a 35-year-old man was seriously assaulted by a number of men outside a shop in Mountblow Road.
As a result the victim was conveyed to hospital where he received stitches and treatment for injuries to his head and face.
Following the incident an area outside the shop was sealed off as officers probed the circumstances surrounding the attack. On Tuesday DC Ian Evans, who is investigating the incident, urged anyone with any information to come forward.
He added: “This was an extremely violent assault leaving the victim with serious injuries, which could have been more damaging had members of the public not intervened.
“If you witnessed the incident or have any information that may assist with our enquiry, please contact Clydebank CID by calling 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
