Children have been getting closer to nature thanks to a local business.

Nurturing Nature Forest School has been running at The Saltings in Old Kilpatrick since September last year.

The classes run every weekend and aim to support children and their families in engaging with the landscape in a safe manner.

Those who attend are also taught life skills to help them develop confidence and self-esteem.

Lindsay Theobold, owner and forest school lead, said: "The forest school has been up and running since September, running classes at the weekend to support children and their families getting outdoors and engaging with nature in a safe environment.

"Children are provided with a range of opportunities to develop their confidence, self-esteem, social skills and mental health.

"Children thrive in an outdoor space where there are no limits to their play, I provide bug hunts, knot tying, balancing and tree climbing equipment, and a mud kitchen for the children to get messy and be imaginative.

"Tools are used to teach life skills and each session finished round the campfire that the children help to light and keep going before we cook a snack on it."

Clydebank Post:

"I love being outdoors and wanted to support children in the community to have time outdoors in a safe way.

"I believe that mud creates memories not just mess."
