AN Old Kilpatrick schoolgirl has been described as “incredible” after she won a major radio station’s Christmas card competition.

Jessica Graham from Gavinburn Primary beat youngsters from other schools across Glasgow and the west to be crowned winner of Clyde 1 FM’s festive design contest.

The winning creation, which shows Glasgow’s Duke of Wellington statue in front of two Christmas trees and sporting a Santa hat rather than its traditional traffic cone, will be filled with festive wishes to Santa from kids across the region.

And talented 10-year-old Jessica, whose mum says just loves her drawing, explained what inspired her to put together the picture she did.

Speaking exclusively to the Clydebank Post, Jessica said: "When I walk through Glasgow, I always see the statue, and I knew the competition had to be Glasgow-themed, so I just thought, why not?"

The primary six student admitted she was "excited" to find out she had won the Radio Clyde contest for the design she revealed took her "all night" to complete.

George Bowie and Cassi from Clyde 1's Bowie At Breakfast visited Jessica and her classmates at Gavinburn to present her with an award for coming out top of the class.

And long-time breakfast-time host George Bowie later congratulated Jessica on Facebook, where many of his followers passed along their praise for Jessica’s handy work.

One said: “Love this!”

Another said: “Brilliant drawing. Well done.”

A third added: “Fantastic.”
