SCHOOL staff across West Dunbartonshire took to picket lines this week amid an ongoing dispute over pay.

Staff working across catering, cleaning, pupil support, administration and janitorial services took to the streets to demand a pay rise in a walkout that closed schools and early learning centres in the area for three days.

The industrial action was taken by members of the Unison trade union despite an improved pay offer from local authority body COSLA, an offer union chief Lilian Macer described as "too little, too late and too vague".

Instead, Unison opted to continue with the industrial action while balloting members, recommending they reject the new offer.

And staff outside St Eunan's ELCC in Clydebank certainly had the backing of locals as they picketed outside the Graham Avenue learning hub.

A cow, a dinosaur and a hand-standing clown all made an appearance as they called on parents to "support us to support your children."
