A Glasgow couple accused of drug dealing have gone on trial charged with also possessing firearms and ammunition.

Amanda Day and Alan Strachan were arrested following a raid on Day’s flat in Tallant Road, Drumchapel, on July 3, 2020.

Police Scotland said at the time that drugs with an estimated value of £50,000 were recovered from the property.

Day, 47, and Strachan, 45, are both accused of being concerned in the supply of the Class A drug heroin, with Day also charged with possessing a quantity of the Class B drug Amphetamine.

Both also face several charges brought under the Firearms Act including possession of two prohibited ‘pinfire’ revolvers – one with a bullet cartridge in the chamber – without a firearm certificate.

They are each also charged with possessing six 0.43 calibre pinfire cartridges and five 0.32 calibre rimfire cartridges for the revolvers without a firearm certificate.

Both deny all the charges and Strachan has given notice of a special defence of incrimination to six of the allegations.

He claims that the crimes were committed by Adam Strachan, now deceased, Liam Day and Damien Murray whose whereabouts are unknown, and Brian Emans, whose address was given as c/o Shotts Prison.

On the first day of their trial on Wednesday, the jury at the High Court in Livingston was shown a video of officers searching Day’s property after they forced entry in the early morning.

The search team also forced entry to two cellars associated with the flat which yielded several bags of white and brown powder.

The search was brought to an abrupt halt when some of the cartridges were found so that specialist firearms officers could attend.

The trial, before Judge Alistair Watson KC, continues.
