A PAPER and print artist has created the Titan Crane as part of her new collection featuring buildings from around the world.

Anna Bilyk finished studying her degree in art and design at Forth Valley College in Stirling last year.

Since then, the 37-year-old, has been pursuing what she wanted to do within the art industry – paper and print work.

She said: “Art has always been a part of my life – ever since I was a child I’ve loved art. I never went to college after school and just went straight into a job.

“A few years ago, I decided that if I went to college it would be now or never and so I decided I was just going to go for it and went to study what I wanted to do.”

As part of her “World Craze” papercut collection that includes different buildings from around the world, Anna chose Clydebank’s Titan Crane to feature first.

She said: “I decided to choose something based near me that had a lot of historical element. The Titan has got a lot of important history behind it. It’s one of those landmarks that when people see it they can relate to it and for me, that’s why I really like it.

“I think Glasgow has got one of the best skylines in the world – it comes up against New York. Some of the buildings here are amazing.”

The artist, who is also a mother to two-year-old Ollie, is inspired by construction, landscapes and architecture.

Anna, from Bonnybridge, draws out the image on paper that she chooses to create, from photographs, some in which she takes herself, and then cuts parts away by carving.

She added: “I like the fact you are sitting with one bit of paper and you create a detailed picture from it. - and it’s not messy like paint.

“As I progress, I’m looking to do a lot of sculptural pieces and feature them in exhibitions.

“They won’t be flat to a wall, I like pieces that can stand themselves, so they can sit somewhere and be a focal point.”

Anna has also created papercuts of St Peter’s Basilica in Rome, the Colosseum in Rome, the Cloth Hall in Krakow and the Taj Mahal in Agra.
