Clydebank’s foodbank is set to move in the coming weeks as they try to do more for residents in need.

West Dunbartonshire Community Foodshare has been based at Radnor Park Parish Church on Friday afternoons for more than four years.

But the charity said as more donations are given out, they needed a bigger space and one more easily accessible for all.

From August 17, the foodshare will be based at The Hub on Kilbowie Road.

Trustee Clair Coyle told the Post more people are picking up more items as the foodshare did more in the community - not just food but school uniforms and toys at Christmas.

She said: “As well as emergency weekly food, we have a lot of surplus food from supermarkets, ready meals, fruit and veg. We have brunch bags during the summer, the toybank and uniform bank.

“We felt we had to be more central on a bus route for people getting home.

“But many people have to walk because they don’t have any money at all.”

Residents from Yoker to Old Kilpatrick, Faifley and Duntocher make use of the foodshare, said Ms Coyle, and the charity found people new to the area in particular struggle as it takes time to move benefits. Kilbowie Road is easier to find for new locals.

The Hub also has a ramp entrance to ensure access to all.

Ms Coyle added: “The board of trustees would like to express our thanks to Clydebank Churches Together who arranged for us to use Radnor Park. It has been a good home for four years. It’s been really kind of them.”

She said the foodshare is always in need of non-perishable items and tinned foods. Donate at Sainsbury’s Drumchapel, Asda, Aurora House, Clydebank Citizens Advice Bureau, Golden Jubilee Hospital, and Keystore in Kilbowie Road and Faifley.

The WD Community Foodshare will be at The Hub, Kilbowie Road, from August 17, every Friday from 1pm to 2.30pm
