FAMILIES in Clydebank flocked to their local libraries over the Easter holidays to take part in arts and crafts events.

The activities, arranged especially for the Easter break, brought together young and some slightly older, offering something for everyone.

Dalmuir Library gave children the chance to design their own plant pots – they got creative and thought about nurturing seeds.

Up at Faifley Library, creativity ran wild with youngsters colouring away to their hearts’ content and making their own tasty treats.

Children coloured in their masks of their favourite animals from sheep and chickens to the Easter Bunny.

There was also a cupcake making session, where the youngsters resisted the temptation to scoff their treats before they had carefully decorated them.

The events helped to promote the importance of libraries as a key part of the community.

A spokesperson for West Dunbartonshire Libraries said: “We’ve had a series of events running for the school holidays.

“It’s to give families something to do, and the events can be for a variety of age ranges.

“The feedback we got is that people really enjoyed themselves, and the events were well attended.

“The library is a safe environment for them to be in, and it promotes literacy as well.

“It helps children to grow up knowing the library is a fun place to be in. It’s a change to promote what’s close to our hearts, which is literacy and reading.”
