A MAN who threatened the public with a jack lever outside Club Mango has avoided a jail sentence.

William Matchet, of Holehouse Drive, Knightswood, previously admitted driving at more than twice the legal drink limit, and to shouting, swearing and acting aggressively while in possession of the jack lever.

CCTV caught the 31-year-old leaving the Clydebank club on July 30 last year and getting into an argument with another person.

Matchet then walked towards a vehicle and produced a jack lever and there was shouting and swearing.

Though both parties later shook hands and walked off in different directions, he was arrested by police.

At Dumbarton Sheriff Court last week, Sheriff Maxwell Hendry told Matchet: “I know the situation in July 2017 and you were not the only one open to criticism.

“But you’re in the dock. You’re the one who drove while under the influence and reacted wholly inappropriately.”

Matchet was ordered to pay a £250 fine and disqualified for driving for 20 months. He can reduce that by five months if he takes a drink driving rehabilitation course.

He was also ordered to do 100 hours of unpaid work within six months.
