SEVERE weather warnings for snow and ice have been upgraded as winter conditions sweep Scotland.

The Met Office has now issued amber “be prepared” warnings of snow and across the country.

Clydebank commuters were blighted by the winter weather as they drove to work this morning.

Heavy snowfall caused severe delays with people coming to and from the town during rush hour.

Traffic was at a standstill on Mountblow Road, while there was gridlock at the roundabout on Victoria Park Street.

Problems were not reserved to Clydebank with bumper to bumper conditions being experienced in Dalmuir.

Traffic on the Erskine Bridge moved at a very slow pace for much of the morning after a car broke down on the southbound carriageway.

Wintry showers have continued sporadically throughout the day but further snow is expected both into the evening and tomorrow morning.
