A CLYDEBANK student has spoken of her pride about being part of the Countess of Wessex’s royal visit to officially open City of Glasgow College’s new state-of-the-art City campus.

Nicola Caracay, beauty therapy student, shared her experience of studying in Latvia, where she learned skills essential to her ambition of running her own salon, with the Countess Sophie.

The 22-year-old represented the international aspect of the college’s teaching when she met the Countess. She had recently concluded the foreign exchange in Latvia where she learned about several practical aspects of her trade.

Nicola, an aspiring entrepreneur and ERASMUS programme participant, was also keen to praise the combination of practical training and teaching provided by the college as well as the “hands-on teaching” and the “passion” of the staff.

She added said: “It was a pleasure to be part of the team welcoming Her Royal Highness to our new super-campus.”
