POLICE on the hunt for a missing Knightswood pensioner who suffers from dementia have confirmed he was spotted on the A82.

Charles O'Neill left his home on Moat Avenue at around 12pm yesterday.

He was later spotted on CCTV outside the Shell Garage heading westbound on the A82.

The 69-year-old has gone missing before and has been found a short time later, however, his family are extremely concerned for his safety given his condition,

He is around 5 ft 6 inches in height with a slim build and tanned complexion.

When last seen he was wearing a faded green jacket, blue jeans, a checked shirt and trainers. The top of his left index finger is missing.

Extensive enquiries are underway to find Mr O'Neill with officers gathering CCTV footage for review.

It's believed Mr O'Neill may have been seen around 4pm yesterday walking near the Great Western Retail Park.

Mr O'Neill is known to visit the Dumbarton and Yoker areas.

Sergeant Debbie McCartney from Drumchapel Police Office said today: “Given the period of time Mr O’Neill has been missing, we are concerned for his safety and wellbeing. His family are extremely worried and just want him home safe and well.

“We have a confirmed sighting of him around 1550 hours near to the Shell Garage of the A82 at Drumchapel where he was walking westbound and officers have been carrying out searches in the Drumchapel and Clydebank areas. They are being assisted by specialist resources including the Force helicopter.

"Mr O'Neill is also known to frequent the Dumbarton and enquiries are also being carried out in that area too.

“The area where Mr O’Neill was last seen on the A82 at Drumchapel is a very busy area and I would urge anyone who has seen Mr O’Neill, or has any information regarding his whereabouts to contact Drumchapel Police Office through 101 quoting reference number 2960 of 9 May 2017.”
