DRUMCHAPEL artists opened their first exhibit in Dalmuir’s Backdoor Gallery just in time for their 25th anniversary.

DRAW (Drumchapel Arts Workshop) have been welcoming artists of all levels since 1992 and many on display in the show are passionate painters.

Ann Mcnaught has been with the group for more than 10 years, going every Thursday from her home nearby.

The 58-year-old said: “I quite liked art at school but had not done anything since then. I’ve learned different techniques there and I just love painting. I can’t wait to a Thursday to go.”

Eileen Holmes, from Old Kilpatrick, said: “It’s a very nice group of people – we have a laugh together. It’s so restful to do the painting. You’re mind goes blank and you focus on something. I never thought I would have time to paint and now I do it quite a lot.”

Kara Maclachlan, 43, travels from Milngavie to paint with the group, maintaining an interest in art from school.

“It’s a great group and great atmosphere,” she said. “We all bounce off each other and get a lot of feedback from each other. I enjoy it. It’s therapeutic.”

The exhibit runs until April 22 at the Backdoor Gallery in Dalmuir Library.
