ALMOST 500 new young voters will be able to cast a ballot in the May council elections, according to new figures.

A total of 486 “attainers” were added to the electoral register for West Dunbartonshire making a total potential electorate of 68,596 for the area.

Kilpatrick ward has 9,078 voters, Clydebank Central has 11,889 and Clydebank Waterfront has 11,693.

The Gardcadden/Scotstounhill ward in Glasgow has 22,742 voters with 142 of them new because of their age. Drumchapel/Anniesland has 21,880 electors and 145 young people are able to vote for the first time in May.
