A CLYDEBANK man who pleaded guilty to assaulting his wife was admonished by a sheriff when he appeared in court on Thursday.
Qinghua Zheng, 43, of Greenwood Quadrant, previously admitted assaulting his wife at their home by seizing her by the neck, pinning her against a wall, punching her on the head, scratching her head and body and pushing her causing her injury.
Sentencing was deferred from the previous hearing for Zheng to be of good behaviour.
Dumbarton Sheriff Court heard Zheng had been of good behaviour and had made no attempt to contact his wife.
Zheng’s solicitor told Sheriff Maxwell Hendry: “He has had no correspondence with his wife but sees his children once a week. He sees them when they come to his house.
“I think the relationship is at an end by not legally confirmed.”
Sheriff Hendry addressed Zheng, saying: “The way you reacted to the situation was completely unacceptable and against the law.
“The use of violence regardless of the circumstances is not to be tolerated. You are a man in your forties and had not committed a previous offence and haven’t since.
“I am prepared to admonish you. You will have a criminal record but there will be no further punishment.”
Zheng was admonished and dismissed from court.
