PRIMARY and secondary pupils in Clydebank are improving their maths skills, according to a new council report.
The latest update on West Dunbartonshire Council’s work to raise attainment highlighted projects that have already made a difference. “Mental maths” at Clydebank’s learning community raised attainment by 21.9 per cent at Carlieth Primary, by 10.9 per cent at Goldenhill PS and by 18.9 per cent at Clydemuir PS.
St Peter the Apostle helped 97.5 per cent of pupils improve accuracy in oral mental agility, and assisted 53.2 per cent on their speed and 94.9 per cent on their written papers’ scores.
The report to last week’s education services committee meeting said Clydebank High launched a “literacy passport” and hoped to do the same for numeracy and health and well-being.
St Peter’s has been using peer tutoring. Kilpatrick School has also seen youngsters try taster sessions in plumbing, brick laying, team building and other activities.
