A YOUNG BOY has been hit by a car on Dumbarton Road this morning is in stable condition. 

The incident happened at around 8.35am this morning outside The Cabin Inn public bar.

The victim was tended to on the roadside by passers by, as paramedics and emergency services were summoned.

Clydebank resident and eyewitness, Janice Maxwell said: "The wee boy shot onto the road with his big brother.

"I think he saw the school bus and the driver didn't stand a chance. 

"There was nothing he could do, he shot out right in front of him. It was terrible."

He has now been taken to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. His condition has been described as stable but he will be kept in overnight for observation. 

Police on the scene confirmed: "There was an incident involving a 7-year-old-boy at 8.25am today."

Part of Dumbarton Road between Nairn Place and Boquhanran Road is closed on one lane heading in the direction of Glasgow City Centre. 

A police spokeswoman said: "Around 8.35am, police received a report of a boy having been hit by a car on Dumbarton Road.

"Emergency services are in attendance and the boy has been taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital."
