THE OUTFITS will be selected, the make-up will be applied and the hair will be perfected as Dalmuir's own Quarriers' residents strut their stuff on the catwalk in aid of the charity.

On October 7, around 30 of the residential patients will take to the catwalk in Clydebank Town Hall to show off the latest trends from retailer M&Co while raising vital funds for the charity.

The event is just one of many fundraisers the group hold throughout the year in order to provide the part time rest-bite care, allowing family and friends of patients to enjoy a well deserved rest while the patients themselves have a fun filled few weeks with their friends.

Support worker David Phee, who is helping to organise the event, is hoping to the fun filled event will draw in the crowds and raise the much needed cash to support the six bedroom facility on Dunn Street

The 57-year-old said: "We've got 62 people in a rest-bite centre up in Duntocher that come in for days at a time so we hope it'll be something fun for them and will help raise money for the centre.

"M&Co provide the clothes and we provide the tickets, which are £5 and the venue can hold around 140 people so I'm hoping it'll be popular - there is a bar.

"We've held a lot of charity events before but this is something different. My wife actually works for M&Co and it was her who had told me that they have done this kind of thing before for different people so we thought 'why not?'

"The walkers will go to the shop about two weeks before the event and pick their outfits.

"We've had a good response so far with tickets and people who want to perform so it's looking good."

The centre, which houses people aged 18 to 65-years-old who suffer from a variety of mental and physical disabilities, asks its residents and their families how any fundraising money should be spent and it looks likely they'll want to see the cash go towards the garden.

David said of the centre, which already holds a special sensory room: "Everybody we support lives in the West Dunbartonshire area.

"We're a person centred rest-bite so we always ask people what they would like to see, for example we recently purchased a games table and equipment to get people in and out of bath."
