EXTRA funding has been set aside to help young people in north-west Glasgow find jobs and apprenticeships.
Projects targeting disability, homelessness and a youth employment initiative (YEI) for the north west will all get part of £5 million set aside by Glasgow City Council’s executive committee last week.
Funds, which are backed by the European Social Fund, will be aimed at youths who face multiple barriers to employment.
About 66 per cent of the funding comes from the EU, with the rest from the council.
Among the organisations getting cash will be Action for Children Services Ltd, which will receive £1,414,944 for the north west area.
Councillor Frank McAveety, leader of Glasgow City Council, said: “I am determined that the city’s economic strategy has to be one which benefits all of our citizens.
“These projects can make a very real difference to the lives of Glaswegians facing the greatest challenges in finding work.”
