A DUNTOCHER woman has been ordered to stay out of trouble after admitting acting aggressively towards her husband within their home.

But two very different versions of events within the property shared by Yvonne Bennett and her husband in Auchentoshan Avenue were described in court this week.

Yvonne Bennett had pleaded guilty at a previous hearing to a charge of shouting, swearing and uttering threats towards her husband within their home on June 22.

Fiscal depute Jeanette Maclean told Dumbarton Sheriff Court that Bennett’s husband and his friend had been trying to stay out of the accused’s way, but that Bennett, who was “extremely intoxicated” at the time, had followed them, threatening to kill and stab her husband.

Bennett’s solicitor, Judith Reid, said Bennett’s husband and the other man – her brother – had returned home after two days away, looking for money so they could go on drinking and “created a situation where she was goaded into behaving in the manner described”, and said Bennett’s husband had sold her TV and mobile phone for money to continue drinking.

Ms Reid added that Bennett had made a deliberate effort not to drink in her husband’s presence, and had “made the most of his absence”.

Sheriff William Gallacher deferred sentence until October for Bennett to be of good behaviour, but added: “You may live in an environment you and your husband are used to, but the rest of us shouldn’t have to put up with it.”
