A FORMER bowling club could be turned into a nursery in the second proposal for the Clydebank site in a year.

The North Drumry Bowling Club site in Kirkoswald Drive would see a new lease on life after several years derelict if the plan gets the green light.

Amongst the proposals for the space, which backs on to Great Western Road, would be to create a single story side extension and form a car park.

The two bowling greens themselves would be converted to a play area for the children while the other would be left as a natural meadow.

The nursery will employ 15 full-time staff, according to the application, which lists the architects as BM Plan and Design. They deferred to Christopher Wright who is behind the proposal and he declined to comment to the Post.

John Hainey, chairman of Linnvale and Drumry Community Council, said they would look at the application in detail. But overall the project could be positive, if it addresses issues of parking and traffic in the area.

He said: "It would be nice to see that building brought back into use. It's a busy bit of road at school times and I would go as far as saying too busy. Parking will always be a problem up that end.

"We will certainly look at the application in depth."

An application for a similar conversion made in July 2015 was later withdrawn in November 2015 and it is understood the proposals are unconnected.
