A CLYDEBANK McDonalds now offers a more fine dining experience with the introduction of table service.

The fast food outlet at Clyde Shopping Centre now has a table service section following a trial in 14 other franchises around the UK.

The move was debated on our social media, with some welcoming the news saying it will help the elderly, disabled and people with children. However, others were quick to dismiss it.

Steve Tomlin, franchisee, told the Post: “I am really excited to announce the launch of table service in my Clydebank restaurant.

“All of the new features have been introduced so that we can meet our customers evolving needs and table service is a great example of that.

We know that for parents for example, it can sometimes be a stressful experience ordering at the till and carrying food while keeping an eye on children.

“So table service enables customers to order at the self-order kiosk and then sit down at a designated zone to be served their food.” Mr Tomlin started his McDonalds franchising 20 years ago and runs six restaurants across Glasgow, Dunbartonshire and Greenock.

He added: “The introduction of table service also means that our people are in front of the counter, serving customers and helping them navigate our digital menu boards for the first time ever.

“It’s taken our customer service to the next level and our people and customers are have really embraced it.”

The Post asked its readers what they think about the introduction of table service.

Lorna Murchison said: “I was in a few days ago since it was the only place open early and the table service section only covers a very small area.

“It’ll be good for elderly and physically disabled people who can’t stand in queues for long.”

Nicole Robertson told the Post: “Better than everyone standing all crowded waiting for their food, but still does take a bit of time to get your food.”
