AN OLD Kilpatrick woman celebrated her 100th birthday with a whisky and lemonade, and a telegram from the Queen.

Margaret Jones, known as Peggy, was born in Whiteinch but moved to Old Kilpatrick in 1941 after meeting her husband Samuel, who died in 1982.

Peggy celebrated surrounded by her family and neighbours at the Glen Lusset on Sunday, May 8, followed by a visit to her Senior Citizens club on Tuesday where she was met by West Dunbartonshire’s Provost McAllister.

Peggy was honoured to have received the Queen’s card telling the Post “it was just nice to get it and to have everyone with me to celebrate”.

After meeting in the queue for the pictures in Clydebank, Peggy and Samuel moved to Old Kilpatrick. The couple had three children, and Peggy is now grandmother to seven and great-gran to five.
