PEOPLE are now able to access top-of-the-line internet technology by logging on at libraries.
Superfast fibre-optic broadband is now available at all Clydebank libraries ‒ and there’s no more queuing for a computer as residents can log on wirelessly using their own devices.
The £15,000 project was fully funded by the Scottish Government’s Public Library Improvement Fund and offers broadband speeds of up to 152Mbps. The UK average is 100Mbps.
Residents who were put off by high demand at peak times and those who prefer to use their laptops and tablets are now logging on at their local facility. Quest IT training courses are being delivered in several libraries using the new superfast service.
The libraries also continue to prove popular places for residents to browse the web for job vacancies and fill out applications.
