PLANS are afoot to establish a new community council in Faifley.
The move is being spearheaded by Stevie Anderson, a political activist who now has the free time to help in his community.
The dad-of-three, who has lived in Faifley for around 40 years, is hoping to revive the area’s community council to help combat poverty and improve the local environment.
Stevie, of Abbeyslands Road, told the Post: “An effective community council can change lives for the better. West Dunbartonshire comes top of all the wrong polls for poor health, life chances, life expectancy and our well-being.
“While elements of these things may or may not be part of the remit of a community council, what is most certainly a key part of one is bringing as much power as possible to the lowest level, so we can get it into our community.
“If people have some power to change those shocking things that are wrong in our community, then we all have a bit more hope about today and tomorrow.”
Stevie, who works with NHS24, listed issues such as policing, anti-social behaviour, poverty, isolation and exclusion as priorities.
The 48-year-old said: “We’re looking for anyone who feels that they have time and energy to commit to a regular, and sometimes busy task.
“If we can get 12 or more people committed to regular involvement, we can make a start. Please get in touch.”
