CARLEITH Primary School were the victors at last week’s West Dunbartonshire’s Active Schools Rugby tournament.

Six schools met in the final on Wednesday night, with each team bringing 12 players along, with seven on the pitch.

The top two schools from each region qualify for the finals – which are held as an evening event to allow families to come along and watch.

St Michael’s, St Kessog’s Christie Park, Jamestown, Our Lady of Lorretto and Carleith all qualified after progressing through the qualifiers earlier in the month. Both Jamestown and Carleith won their first four games, setting up a winner-takes-all clash in their last game.

Carleith however ran out 3-2 winners finishing the tournament unbeaten, with Jamestown coming second and Christie Park in third place.
