SCOTSTOUN Stadium is preparing to welcome the world’s best international rugby seven sides as the HSBC Sevens World Series returns this weekend (May 9 and 10).

In what is the second last leg of the series which has seen the event travel to the likes of Australia, South Africa, USA and Japan — a capacity crowd is expected with 30,000 descending on Scotstoun over the two days.

Fifteen national teams have contested the tournament which started in October, competing for ranking points, with the winner being crowned after the final ties in England on May 17.

With Scotstoun hosting the second last series and the top four sides at the end of the campaign gaining automatic qualification to the Rio Olympics in 2016, there is plenty at stake.

South Africa lead the way currently, followed by Fiji, New Zealand and England in the remaining qualification spots.

Scotland will face Fiji, Wales and Portugal in Pool C as they look to improve on their current position of seventh in front of a home crowd. The Scots have a great chance to top their previous highest ranking at the event of ninth.

Both days are set to be fun filled with spectators ready to embrace the comic book theme and dress up as their favourite superheroes.

Organisers last week announced that a free shuttle bus service will be in operation once again for the two days from Glasgow to the stadium.

Scotland stars, Scott Riddell and James Johnstone, were joined by The Hulk (Thom Bowman, nine), Supergirl (Kate Bowman, nine) and Spiderman (Zander Buxton, eight) to announce the plans at Buchanan Street Bus Station.

Across the two days, buses will run, at least every 15 minutes, between Buchanan Street Bus Station and the Partick Interchange.

There are still tickets left for the weekend, but fans are encouraged to buy quickly before it is too late.
