ANTONINE ran out 4-2 winners against Drumchapel United at Mountblow in the Paisley u19 District Division 2 on Saturday.

Nathan Kerr gave the hosts the lead initially, before Quinn was sent off early in the second half.

Drumchapel pulled a level shortly after, before Adam Boyle restored the one goal advantage. There were also two red cards shown to Drum players either side of Kieran Kelly’s goal, with Drumchapel scoring again before Zander Craig scored the final goal of the game.

The hosts were looking to continue to build on their good recent form after their poor start to the season had left them sitting in the bottom half of the league.

Drum started on the front foot forcing Antonine to defend, but a couple of last ditch challenges kept the score blank.

Antonine gradually grew into the game game and play was mostly in the Drum half for the following 10 minutes.

Nathan Kerr fired narrowly wide from 25 yards, and Adam Boyle was next to try his luck after beating the Drum full back, but his goalbound shot was deflected over.

The opening goal came on 25 minutes and it was worth the wait.

Nathan Kerr dispossessed the Drum defender wide on the left, and then went on to beat another two players players before firing in from a tight angle into the roof of the net for his eighth of the season.  Brendan Kelly and Lewis Smith came close as Antonine looked to turn the screw with Andy Carroll’s goal untested in the first half.

The game exploded into life five minutes into the second half, when a tussle between Shaun Quinn and Drum’s striker led to the striker being booked and Quinn being sent off, much to the dismay of the bemused home support.

Before Antonine could regroup Drum equalised with a fine finish.

Andy Carroll then produced a tremendous save to keep the scores level.  It was time for Antonine to show some character and they showed this in abundance as every player gave extra despite being a man down.

And on 65 minutes Adam Boyle robbed a Drum defender on the halfway line and ran in from the full half to slot home his fifth of the season, Shortly after one of the visitors’ defenders received a second yellow to make it 10-a-side.

On 70 minutes a Smith cross was controlled by Kerr who slipped in K Kelly to smash home his second of the season to make it 3-1.

Drum went down to nine men when their striker was given a second yellow.

However, they immediately pulled a goal back when Antonine failed to clear a long throw and the ball was fired home.

Ten minutes from time Dean Miller’s throw was flicked on by Boyle and Zander Craig fired in his first goal for the club to make it 4-2.

Jonny Lyon tested the goalkeeper late on but the game finished with Antonine picking up three points.

It was a good battling performance as they made it three wins in a row, with Pirie Park at home their next game.
